Quick Notes and a Request
Wow… almost a post a day recently. Has hell frozen over to allow me some extra time to actually focus on things again? Oh yeah, that’s right, midterms are this week and I just happen to have a little spare time as a result. Oh well, I was kind of hoping…
First, I would like to solicit some guest posts to include over the next few weeks. One of the things I want to do is to create a new segment here on Diabolical Minds where I feature another author on a regular basis. Any topic is perfectly acceptable, and if you are interested please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Whether you have your own blog, column, or haven’t written before also makes no difference.
Second, I’d really like to get more feedback. While I may not have a regular posting schedule myself due to classes, work, and general lack of time, I do make it a point to go through all comments and respond where appropriate. I would like more, though. Getting a feel for what you all are enjoying reading and what you want to read about is critical, otherwise I just continue my same course of “random topics of interest to me and sprinkled with fiction.” While I’m perfectly happy to continue, I do want to try to include posts geared toward what you all are interested in reading in addition to my randomness.
Third, Links. I finally updated the links section with some additional blogs that I either enjoy reading regularly or who I feel do an excellent job. I scrapped the entire section a few months ago, so the links will only grow as time passes. If you would like to be included feel free to send me a message, but be sure you read this post first!
And finally, the Forums. I honestly have not been pushing any real direction for the forums. I want them to be available for those who want to communicate on the blog, or just among each other, regardless of the type of discussion. Starting next week I will be trying to regularly post something on a weekly basis there, though, to try to promote the interaction and discussion that I enjoy as well. Feel free to check them out if you are even remotely interested, and please remember that the forums are still in their infancy. [Link]

Well, I tend to read everything but the stories although I am absolutely horrible about commenting. I only edit out stories when responding to these kind of things because I hate reading a chapter/post at a time–I find it makes me grumpy and I lose the thread of the multiple storylines floating around–so I just skip them all.
Having no idea what your forum is designed to generate in terms of connectivity, I’ve been hesitant to become involved as I tend to become a forum lurker/troll.
I decided to try to make the stories more accessible by having a separate “Table of Contents” page with all of the links in order. I can completely understand that, though.
The forum is really just an additional place for people to go to discuss whatever comes to mind to be honest, which is why I haven’t pushed them. I just find most places don’t offer the “lounge style” discussion forum I’m after, tending to instead stick to a specific genre or topic. It isn’t the kind of thing that will attract many at first, but as I start to actually use them more I’m sure things will start to take on a life of their own.
There was a small, local forum that had a similar idea that worked extremely well once upon a time, but the Administrator there chose to shut things down. Since then there just hasn’t been anything similar, and I didn’t want to limit it only to locals.
Of course, I’m not sure if that even clarifies it…
Not much of a comment here but, I agree with Windsoar. I tend to skip stories, though I love that people write them and post them, if that makes sense. Everything else I’ll read, I just find it difficult to keep up with stories, I suck at keeping up with my reader so, it’s easier to catch up on posts.
