Syrana’s Soulstone: Face Melting Questionnaire

2

syrana speakAh, so my lovely RL avatar gave me some homework to do.  She babbled something about how I’d be able to answer this questionnaire better than her.  I figure I might as well oblige.  I mean, it’s not like I’m squeamish or modest when it comes to talking about my magical prowress or slaining foes.  Although, some of these questions are clearly directly at RL avatars to answer, not self-aware beings such as myself.

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary dps?
I guess that would be myself.  I’m Syrana.  I’m a warlock that specializes in terrifying afflictions.

What is your primary dpsing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)
Umm, the outdoors.  Well, that’s not true – everywhere outside my home is more accurate.  Anywhere there is an enemy.  Lately that’s mostly in Kalimdor while I’m sent about searching for the most obscure tasks to be completed.

And I don’t discriminate.  Be it a bear or a gnome, it’s going down.

What is your favorite dps spell/ability for your class and why?

My favorite spell? Oh jeez, so many to choose from! I absolutely adore haunt.  What can beat hurling shadow energy at someone, have it eat away at them, and then replenish my own health?! It’s like streamlining my normal soul consumption.  That requires me to drain someone’s soul, stuff it into a shard, and then later bake the shard into a soulcookie.

What dps spell do you use least for your class and why?
I’ll have to say Curse of Doom.  I don’t really get appropriate chances to use it.  I think my last Doom victim was the Curator.  I also don’t get to use searing pain very often.  I love to see the contorted face of my enemy as it burns through their body, but it tends to anger them a lot…which results in them running at me.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of your dps class and why?
Warlocks are excellent at taking down their enemies from afar.  We are also excellent at torture.  I particularly love how I can cast spells that eat away at my enemies, causing them to fall dead at my feet as they try to reach me.

What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your dps class and why?
My spells are designed to slowly torment, so if I need to quickly burn someone down, it can be difficult to do so.

In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best dps assignment for you?
I’m more of a loner.  I don’t often go out in hunting parties of such a size.  But, the times I have, I would say the main “boss” is the one for me.  Minions and servants tend to die too quickly before my spells finish marinating on their flesh.  The big bads get my full dose.  Also, I can still fling spells at them even when they do silly things like flinging me in the air.  I love being able to cast on the run and over my shoulder.  It makes it much more fun!

What dps class do you enjoy dpsing with most and why?
Anyone that is competent, really.  I do prefer the quieter types though.  Mages can be so whiny.  Regardless of role, I love spending time with Blood Knights.  I take after my mother in that respect, we both have a weakness for a knight in shining armor.

What dps class do you enjoy dpsing with least and why?
Incompetent apprentices.  I mean, it’s not really that their specialization is poor, but some people just don’t study their tomes like they should.

What is your worst habit as a dps?
You dare insinuate that I have flaws? *scoffs*

What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while dpsing?
Getting in my way.  I want a clear path to my target.  Don’t cry to me if my spell singes your hair as it whizzes past your head.  That, and when people mistake me for being a mage.  If you don’t want soulcookies, fine, but I will never produce a full dinner table for you leeches.

Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other dps?
It seems so, at least amongst competent and capable comrades.

What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a dps?
Blood and pulse.  If the target is dead, my performance was just fine.

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your class?
I don’t want to share that, since I prefer being misunderstood.

What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new dpsers of your class to learn?
Proper demon management, how to properly control/banish demons not bound to them, threat management, and proper use of their spells.  I’ve had the pleasure to work with some wonderful warlocks, but I’ve also had the misfortune to work with several warlocks that are clearly lesser than myself.

What dps class do you feel you understand least?
Rogues.  They are sneaky bastards.

What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in dps?
I do quite well on my own, but my RL avatar uses a variety of crap.  It’s really just so she knows what the hell I’m up to.  She can’t keep up otherwise.

One stat above others, or balanced stat allocation, and why?
I do pay attention to gems, enchants, and the quality of my armor and weapons.  The most important thing is being able to land my spells.  If they don’t land, black marks on the wall or ground behind them do no good.  Next would be the power of my spells.  After having a basic foundation, you need to be able to channel enough power to really make them hurt.  I also love this new drug called haste.  It helps speed up my casting time without taking shortcuts.
