  7. Part Seven begins below:

Byaghro leans her back against the great tree’s trunk as the sun starts to break out from under the horizon. Warm rays of light creep toward her, the edges warming her feet in stark contrast to the cool shade enveloping the rest of her body. Her thoughts drift through a combination of her teachings and personal revelations over the recent months.

‘The journey will not be easy, yet the understanding of the way will provide solace. Focus must never be lost, balance always maintained, and the self never lost sight of, otherwise self-destruction is the only path open to travel. With these as truths I know the life ahead of me will be filled with trials that may very well destroy my soul, and yet I feel comfort in the knowledge that there are others who share such burdens. That although each of our journeys are independent all of our paths are intertwined.’

A voice breaks through the stillness of the forest and interrupts Byaghro’s thoughts, “I see you haven’t gone and gotten yourself killed yet.”

Byaghro’s eyes snap open at the sound of the familiar voice. “Elainara!” she cries, leaping to her feet and hugging the priestess, “It is so good to see you again!”

Elainara smiles as she embraces Byaghro, “I’m glad you’re alright.”

“What brings you out this way?” asks Byaghro finally, “I thought you would be cooped up in the temple for much longer than this.”

“There has been a call for help from Auberdine. It appears there is a corrupted furbolg tribe causing a myriad of problems for our people, and I have been chosen to provide assistance however I may, ” replies Elainara, pausing before adding, “I was hoping you would join me.”

Before Byaghro can answer Mathrengyl walks up to them and states, “I believe that would be an excellent idea. Return to me from time to time to continue your training, Byaghro, but the best way to learn is by doing. Go, aid our brothers and sisters in Auberdine.”

“Thank you,” responds Byaghro. She then turns to face Elainara, “I’ll need to stop and gather some supplies, but if you’re ready we should probably start the journey.”

Elainara nods, the slight smile on her face betraying her eagerness to be on their way as well, “Certainly. I should probably grab some mana potions as well as a precaution.”

Darkness wraps itself around the town as the ship pulls into the harbor. The only light visible shining brightly from the inn at the end of the dock. Auberdine. The town has served as a buffer between the elven lands and the rest of Kalimdor for quite some time, and lately has been under siege from a growing corruption throughout Azeroth. Byaghro almost gasps at the strength of the imbalances in nature as they tug at her mind, and Elainara almost cringes at the darkness she can sense trying to extinguish any remaining light in the lands.

“‘Tis dire indeed..,” whispers Elainara.

“We definitely do not want to venture out tonight,” says Byaghro quietly.

“Come, we’ll rest in the inn until dawn, then we can talk to the townsfolk and learn more of the perils they have faced lately.”

Byaghro nods, the realization of the need to recenter herself and focus her mind gnawing at her, reminding her of the dangers ahead beyond the protection of Darnassus’ borders.

Elainara’s actions indicate a similar realization, and any doubts Byaghro had of Elainara’s similar feelings were quelled when she whispered, “I did not expect such an assault mentally and spiritually.”

Byaghro turns and grasps Elainara as she responds, “Come, Elainara, we’ll prepare ourselves together, just like we did in the past.”

Disclaimer: While the events in this series will be based upon the World of Warcraft universe in general, this is purely fiction and will certainly have a number of liberties taken that would not make sense if attempting to draw correlations to the actual in-game lore and events. This will also be an attempt to complete one RP series from start to finish instead of leaving a number of random, open series left unfinished. Also worth noting is that I am going back to the beginning, when Byaghro was created, and moving forward through “vanilla” WoW, through the Burning Crusade, and on into Wrath to tell her entire story. Many details are vague in my memory at this point, and as a result I will be taking even more liberties with older content in bringing this story to fruition.
