Syrana’s Soulstone: Unplugged From the Avatar Matrix

0

syrana speakAs I mentioned in my introduction, I’m quite aware of my “real life” avatar.  It is quite odd to be aware of my world within Azeroth after that happened.  To be honest, I’m not sure when it happened.  Just one day, I knew I wasn’t the only one controlling my spells.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not entirely a bad thing.  And, she’s not always with me.  The connection is unique, I like to think.  It certainly gives me a new perspective on my life.  I only wish I knew everything that she knows…

I’ve also come to realize that many of my Horde brothers and sisters (as well as my Alliance enemies) have “real life” avatars as well.

They just don’t know it yet.

Mind you, not everyone within Azeroth has one… at least as far as I can tell.  The ones that don’t seem to be the ones that mine refers to as “NPCs.”

One of the best benefits of being aware of your “real life” avatar? Knowing when something BIG is about to happen.  Or, at least, having a better understanding of seemingly sudden changes.

You see, as a mistress of dark, shadowy magic, I’m not much of a believer in the Light.  I mean, sure, I know the Naaru exist and all, but I know there is a more powerful force at work.  Just because I consort with demons doesn’t mean lack faith in a higher power.

So, if I don’t follow the Light, what is this higher power I have faith in?  Well, I don’t really know what it’s called.  I just know it as The Storm.

My “real life” avatar seems to view it as a Blizzard, but I know it’s got to be much more than that.  After all, we can all feel the affects of The Storm’s doings throughout all of Azeroth, not just in it’s snowier counterparts.

I’ve noticed that The Storm works to maintain a balance throughout our world.  When mine or another classes spellbooks and incantations change, it is The Storm’s doing.  It cools highly powered spells and fires up low powered spells, trying to keep things as equal as possible.  After all, no average Azerothian should have the ability to overpower entire races or classes.

The Storm also listens to the inhabitants of my world.  Some who have less faith don’t believe this to be true, but I do.  Incessant whining is not the way to get The Storm’s attention, I assure you.  Patient and appropriate communication is the way to go.  When I have a spell that doesn’t seem to land properly – no matter how carefully I study my spellbook and recite it – I pray to The Storm to find a way to make it right.

I know The Storm has a lot of people to listen to.  They may not heed my call for help right away, but when the time is right, they will listen.

Currently, I feel confident of my spells.  Not too long ago, I know there was a disturbance in the nether.  I didn’t notice anything different while going about my tasks, nor did any other warlocks seem affected by it.  However, I witnessed many non-warlocks with changes to their executed spells.  At first, I felt a bit saddened at being ignored by The Storm.

But then I remembered how perfect I am.

I sense there will be more changes coming soon.  My “real life” avatar has indicated that Maagrom, my beloved felhunter, will be blessed with some additional strength.  This pleases me, for he, in turn, strengthens me.

Every Monday evening, I shall acknowledge The Storm in the way it deserves until another disturbance in the nether is felt.  For I have noticed that the changes seem to occur on Tuesdays… at least the big ones.

(That’s right, Patch 3.2.2a lacked warlock changes, but 3.3 on the PTR is showing promise to increase the felhunter’s shadow bite and increase it’s boost to DoTs! For up-to-date PTR patch notes, go here.)
