  3. Part Three begins below:

Byaghro strides up the ramp leading to the upper levels of Aldrassil calmly, yet within a sense of elation and even nervousness gives her pause. As she reaches Mardant’s room Byaghro stops and inhales deeply, collecting her thoughts. Uncertain what is to be expected of her, Byaghro humbly enters the room.

“Welcome, Byaghro. I have been expecting you,” greets Mardant as he turns to face Byaghro. “I see that you are surprised to have received my summons. In time you will understand that which I have noticed. Until such time, you are welcome to come to me for guidance in learning the teachings of Cenarius.”

Bowing, Byaghro responds confidently, “I believe I know why you have summoned me already, if I may be so bold.”

Suppressing a smile, Mardant encourages Byaghro to continue.

“As a whole, our people believe that we are no longer in danger except from the Horde. I do not know of an explanation, but I feel as though this is not the case. The words of the Conservator when I received this sigil from him only reaffirmed my suspicions, that there is a far more dangerous threat before us.”

Mardant nods, motioning for Byaghro to have a seat as he begins to talk, “You are correct. While The War of the Ancients has certainly taken its toll on the Kaldorei, there is growing concern that what began those many, many years ago was not actually finished. While it is true that Sargeras was stopped and the only conflict we face currently is against the Horde’s encroachment on our territories, there are strong imbalances felt among both the Druids of the Wild and the Priestesses of Elune. I am afraid that must suffice as explanation for now, Byaghro, for you are not yet ready to know the rest.”

Byaghro remains silent for a moment, collecting her thoughts. “I am ready to begin my training.”

Sweat pours into Byaghro’s eyes as she struggles to counter each attack with her staff. Spinning quickly to her right she barely escapes being impaled by the sword thrust toward her chest. Using the momentum of her spin to bring the staff around, Byaghro aims low in an attempt to knock the legs out from under her opponent. The loud crack of shattering bones echoes throughout the glen like a gunshot. Fluidly, Byaghro follows through with the spinning attack and uses its momentum to launch into a leaping attack, turning her body at a forty-five degree angle and bringing the stave around in a deadly downward strike. At the last possible moment, the stave a mere inch away from her opponent’s throat, Byaghro gracefully lands on her feet and halts the strike. Breathing heavily, Byaghro stands upright and bows to her instructor, Ilyenia Moonfire, the renowned weapon master responsible for training the Sentinels.

Ilyenia nods approvingly, “Well done, Byaghro. While you may not use these skills often as you progress through your training with the Druids, there will come a time when the lessons learned upon this field will save your life. Mardant has sent word that you should speak with Mathrengyl Bearwalker in the Cenarion Enclave upon the completion of your training here. It is time for you to embark upon the next segment of your training.”

Bowing deeply, Byaghro thanks Ilyenia. Turning to her previous opponent, Byaghro kneels and places her hands over Taiande’s legs. Whispering quietly, Byaghro channels healing energy through her hands and into Taiande, repairing the wounds.

“Thank you Byaghro, though you could have healed me before taking the time to hold a conversation with Ilyenia,” mutters Taiande.

“And you could have healed yourself already,” snickered Byaghro, the friendly rivalry among the two having progressed to the point that neither would admit their fondness for the other.

Laughing, Taiande nods, “Good thing I at least suppressed the pain then.”

The two clasp hands firmly, both understanding this could be their last time seeing each other. Taiande’s path would take her to the temple to become a Priestess under the guidance of Tyrande Whisperwind herself.

Byaghro turns and makes her way toward the Cenarion Enclave. Her path had finally brought her to the most important point in her life thus far, the trials that she will have to pass to truly become an accepted part of the Cenarion Circle.

Disclaimer: While the events in this series will be based upon the World of Warcraft universe in general, this is purely fiction and will certainly have a number of liberties taken that would not make sense if attempting to draw correlations to the actual in-game lore and events. This will also be an attempt to complete one RP series from start to finish instead of leaving a number of random, open series left unfinished. Also worth noting is that I am going back to the beginning, when Byaghro was created, and moving forward through “vanilla” WoW, through the Burning Crusade, and on into Wrath to tell her entire story. Many details are vague in my memory at this point, and as a result I will be taking even more liberties with older content in bringing this story to fruition.

Ah yes, it is important to be handy with one’s stave, as you never know when you might need to rely on it to finish off an opponent…. especially in the early training years when magic drains you quickly!

You know that first sentence… well… let’s just say it initially sparked a diabolical thought! :p
