(RP) Journeys, Part 1

7

‘Born among the remnants of a slowly dying race, I awoke to a world thrust out of balance with the very forces trying to sustain our existence. Although the Kaldorei are slowly rebuilding from the damage and destruction faced during the War of the Ancients, we are struggling to come to terms with the sheer magnitude of losses faced when Azeroth was torn apart. My path is uncertain, as is that of all my people, and yet I feel the call of Cenarius and know that I have a long, although difficult, path before me as a Druid of the Wild.’

A relatively young night elf, known as Conservator Ilthalaine, calls out, “Young druid, we are in need of your assistance. While it is never our desire to harm nature’s creatures, we must act to maintain balance within the Shadowglen. The nightsaber and thistle boar populations have grown too large, and will certainly destroy the glen’s ecosystem if left unchecked. Venture forth and help bring balance to the populations found within these mountains.”

“I can feel the distress, the swaying of harmony within nature herself as fear of the potential destruction faced in this area if balance is not restored takes hold. I shall return when this task is complete,” acknowledges Byaghro as she ventures forth into the wilds of the Shadowglen.

Coming to terms with her newfound abilities, Byaghro struggles to harness and wield the power of nature herself. Drawing upon the basic teachings of Cenarius, at least as she overheard listening to various druids passing through the area, Byaghro begins to feel overwhelmed in harnessing natural energy and controlling its course in hitting her intended target.

‘Understanding this equilibrium, this path, shall certainly prove difficult. While I can feel the swaying in balance, it is still quite faint and difficult to interpret. How shall I discern the difference between discord in the harmony I am sworn to protect and simply a temporary change in a local environment? Further, can I truly form a symbiotic relationship with these forces and become strong enough, wise enough, and even comfortable enough with these powers not to falter and become a threat to the very existence of that which I desire to protect at all costs?’

Byaghro’s concentration falters for a moment, her guard lowered just enough for a nightsaber to get in one strong, deep attack as it dies. Gasping, Byaghro falls to her knees and clutches the wound, trying to stem the flow of blood. Feeling light-headed, she manages to focus just enough to channel a minor healing spell upon herself as her consciousness fades.

Disclaimer: While the events in this series will be based upon the World of Warcraft universe in general, this is purely fiction and will certainly have a number of liberties taken that would not make sense if attempting to draw correlations to the actual in-game lore and events. This will also be an attempt to complete one RP series from start to finish instead of leaving a number of random, open series left unfinished. Also worth noting is that I am going back to the beginning, when Byaghro was created, and moving forward through “vanilla” WoW, through the Burning Crusade, and on into Wrath to tell her entire story. Many details are vague in my memory at this point, and as a result I will be taking even more liberties with older content in bringing this story to fruition.

Yay for druid RP stories! :D

  2. Syrana says:

Ah, how easy it can be to break concentration at the beginning of one’s training. I certainly hope she reawakens before another nightsaber discovers her…

  3. Byaghro says:

This is going to be an epic tale for sure! :D
